NITRATE REDUCTION SYSTEMS
Featuring:
KRUDICO'S NITRATE SELECTIVE RESIN
 |
Krudico's
Nitrate Reduction systems are available in many different tank
and control valve sizes to handle both your flow rate requirements
and the nitrate con-tent of your water. All systems are alternating
in design in that one or more tanks are on line while one tank
is in regeneration/standby. All control valves are meter initiated,
the gallonage between regenerations is pre-set to prevent overruns
and minimize salt consumption.
The
1 1/2" systems are twin alternating only while the larger
2" and 3" models may have two, three or more tanks
in parallel for higher flow rates and capacities, dependent
on the individual needs of the water supply.
All
models are equipped with internal "no hard water"
bypasses so that raw water containing nitrates cannot enter
the system during regeneration.

| Krudico,
Inc. has been a forerunner in nitrate reduction using nitrate
selective resins since they became available in the mid 1980's.
Prior to the manufacture of selective resins, nitrates were reduced
by running water through standard anion resins manufactured by
several USA and foreign companies.
The
standard anion resins, while able to reduce nitrates, had one
large liability. If the water to be treated contained sulfates,
the sulfate ions were held onto the resin media stronger than
the nitrate ions. Therefore, if the equipment malfunctioned,
ran low on salt for regeneration or the water chemistry changed,
nitrates could be "dumped" in the water supply at
much higher levels than contained in the influent raw water.
This is caused by the stronger held sulfates pushing the nitrates
off the resin during the normal service run of the equipment.
Nitrate
Selective resin has a higher affinity for nitrates than sulfates,
therefore preventing the dumping of high amounts of nitrates
even if the resin is run past it's capacity. At that point,
the effluent nitrates will be no worse than what is contained
in the influent raw water supply.

2"
& 3" N03 SYSTEM CONTROL VALVES
The
Krudico 2" models have a separate control valve mounted on each
tank. These systems can be installed with two or more tanks in parallel,
dependent on the flow rates required and the Nitrate removal needs.
There is one common 2" or 3" reset meter on the effluent
or outlet line of the total system that measures the water flow. When
a preset amount of water has passed through, the meter signals for
one tank to go into regeneration. After regeneration, this tank will
stay on standby until the reset meter calls for another tank to go
into regeneration. At this time, the standby tank will come back on
line and allow the second tank to go into regeneration/standby. This
sequence is continuous in either two tank or multiple tank installations.
If
the meter calls for a second tank to regenerate before the first tank
has finished its cycle, the meter will hold off the signal until the
first tank is ready to come back on line. This is to insure proper
flow rates are available at all times.
All
of the control valves are equipped with a "no raw water"
bypass to prevent untreated water from entering the system during
the regeneration cycles.
