FULL LINE OF RESIDENTIAL WATER FILTERS Krudico AIF Filters This line of Iron Filters contains fine greensand grains which are coated with manganese dioxide. Iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide are oxidized by this coating and converted to insoluble oxides. As the conversion is completed, these oxides attach to the grains and are removed from the water. Simply stated, the iron ions are being converted from the dissolved ferrous form by oxygen held on the coating of the beads. This oxygen is replaced automatically by regeneration with potassium permanganate. A two ounce solution per ft3 of greensand will replenish the depleted oxygen for renewed removal capacity of iron, manganese or sulfur. Calculations for potassium permanganate feedage rates can be found on the Commercial Greensand Filter Page. Inert suspended matter down to 20 micron is also removed by the compactness of the greensand. Krudico SFA Filters "Filter Lite" Sand Filters Where sand, grit, iron, manganese, and other suspended matters are the problem, Krudico Sand Filters offer a more economical method of removal than other media. The media, alumina silicate, (also known as Filter Lite or Filter Ag) has an irregular but larger shape than other aggregate media. The irregular form makes the bed ideal for trapping particulate matter while the larger sized particles allow for higher flow rates than other medias. The SFA Filter has been the most popular filter for removing Iron & Manganese when used in conjunction with Krudicos "Air Charger" aeration systems. SFA models are complete with an Autotrol six day cycle or Fleck ten day cycle automatic control valve and non-corrosive fiberglass media tank. Krudico GAC Filters For Taste, Odor, & Color Control Removes chlorine and other unwanted tastes from your water. If used in conjunction with chlorinated water, iron up to 2 PPM can normally be filtered out. Krudicos GAC Filters contain high porosity bituminous coal for maximum adsorption. These small pore sites (down to two-millionth of an inch) greatly increase the surface area of our carbon. Just ten pounds of this carbon has a surface area of over one square mile. GAC Carbon Filters impart a polish taste to the water for maximum benefits in drinking water, cooking, ice machines and beverages such as coffee and tea. GAC models are complete with an Autotrol six day cycle or Fleck ten day cycle automatic control valve and non-corrosive fiberglass media tank.
Krudico Bacterialstatic/Catalytic Carbon Filters Silver Impregnated Carbon Filters Krudicos Bacterialstatic/Catalytic Carbon filter blends silver impregnated carbon with catalytic carbon. This Bacterialstatic/Catalytic carbon filter creates a filtration environment where non-heterotrophic bacteria cannot survive. The Bacterialstatic/Catalytic carbon filter should be used with the "Air Charger" to insure adequate oxidation of iron and sulfur, and provide optimal performance. Bacterialstatic/Catalytic models are complete with an Autotrol six day cycle or Fleck ten day cycle automatic control valve and non-corrosive fiberglass media tank. Krudico Centurion Carbon Filters For Water with Chloramines or Higher Amounts of Sulfur This Centurion Carbon Filter is a catalytic carbon filter which can be used with the "Air Charger" to provide optimal performance in controlling hydrogen sulfide & iron. Normally found with higher levels of hydrogen sulfide, is Sulfate Reducing Bacteria. These bacteria accumulate and form a "slime" growth on water pipes, tank sides, control valves, etc. As the bacteria die and decay, they create their own stench in the water that, unless treated, can become nearly as powerful as the sulfur gas. The Centurion Carbon Filter can be continuously regenerated by injecting small amounts of Hydrogen Peroxide prior to the "Air Charger" which disinfects sulfur & iron bacteria and extends the working life of the carbon. The Hydrogen Peroxide provides the extra boost of dissolved oxygen that carbon filters require to effectively remove sulfur & iron bacteria without the side effects of chlorine. Only 4.0 milligrams per liter (mg/L) of hydrogen peroxide for every 1 mg/L of hydrogen sulfide is required to control bacteria as well as keep the carbon continuously regenerated. Chloramines have recently become a growing concern of many individuals. Chloramines are chemical complexes formed by chlorine and ammonia which are often used in the disinfection of many municipal water supplies. However, catalytic carbon has a high affinity for the adsorption of chloramines making it an obvious choice for chloramine removal. |
